The story
"I remember how I taped my favorite anime character to the window so I could copy it and tell everyone I made it myself. I don't why it was important for me to have that skill, drawing. But after a while I removed the template and started drawing free hand. Since then my creativity just escalated."
I'm what people call an autodidact artist since I'm self taught all the way through. If you can be truly self taught that is, I mean I feel like I've been learning so much from different artists and teachers. I just don't have the academic side of it. If I had to put myself in a box I might be some kind of interdiciplinary artist, since I'm always looking to merge stuff and make them work together. It could actually be anything. I have a hard time sticking to only one thing. But that also makes me feel brave and true to myself. It also makes me evolve constantly. Through my life I have always been sketching, drawing and painting. I painted grafitti in high school but that career was cut short when I was caught bombing my school with tags.
But it was as late as 2017 that I got my first studio and took my art into the galleries. Since then I've had exhibitions and other art projects. Many project include some sort of youth work since I've noticed that the art world has a hard time including young people. It became a mission for me, to change that. So until this day I've worked with something called Young Art East or Ung Konst Öst which became a platform for young artists to send their work and get courses and education to develop their skills or gain new ones. Please contact me if you'd like to know more.
I've always had an interest in the street culture. I think that started when I worked at a business that made longboards. In my career as an artist I've always wanted to become the new Virgil Abloh or Bobby Hundreds, which I understand is a huge vision. But you have to have that if you ever want to succeed. So in 2020 i decided to start and design my own streetwear. And that has a become a big part of my work as an artist.
I don't want Anton Grabowska to be just a person or a name. I want people to think about a mess of creativity and ideas that contributes to a world of innovation and new ways of working with art, design, youthwork and anything else.
Please get in touch with me if you are interested in my work and want to collaborate.
